IDAERO sponsors Comillas Rocket Team to support the next generation of aerospace talent

IDAERO Solutions begins a new sponsorship collaboration with Comillas Rocket Team, the experimental rocketry association at Universidad Pontificia Comillas, giving students access to NaxTo to support the structural analysis of their rockets and connect their education with real-world aerospace engineering challenges.

The team brings together more than 30 students from ICAI, ICADE and CIHS, combining engineering and business skills to design, build and launch their own rockets. Working across aerodynamics and design, propulsion, recovery, avionics and strategy, its members take a project through every stage: from conceptual design and manufacturing to testing, launch and analysis of the results.

Through this collaboration, NaxTo will primarily support the Aerodynamics and Design department, helping students better understand the forces acting on the rocket, streamline structural validation and refine future designs. Alongside access to the software, IDAERO will provide professional technical support and practical guidance from its engineering team, drawing on years of industry experience to help students apply these tools and tackle technical challenges.

The team is now preparing to enter its first rocket in the SURTAM L1 competition, scheduled for 7 November 2026 in Alcolea de Cinca, Huesca. Alongside this milestone, it is developing mentoring initiatives and rocket-related final-year projects to pass knowledge on to future members, with ambitions to develop new rocket models and enter further national and international competitions.

“Having IDAERO’s support is a major step for a young team like ours. Working with NaxTo brings us closer to the way engineering is done in the aerospace industry and helps us design a more reliable rocket ahead of our first competition,” says Comillas Rocket Team.

At IDAERO, we are proud to support students who turn their curiosity and technical knowledge into hands-on engineering experience. By sharing both professional tools and our team’s expertise, we look forward to accompanying Comillas Rocket Team as they prepare for their first competition and build the foundations for future projects.
